Welcome to Legato Strings Orchestra, where musical dreams come to life. Since our inaugural concert in 2019 at St. Thomas Syro Malabar Church Hall in Toronto, we have been dedicated to transforming beginner string players into accomplished musicians. Our mission is simple yet profound: to bring up beginner string players to professional levels while making music education affordable and accessible for everyone.
What started as a grassroots initiative among immigrant communities in Canada has blossomed into a thriving musical family. We believe that music transcends boundaries and brings people together, creating lasting connections and memories that enrich lives.
Our vision extends beyond just teaching notes and rhythms. We aim to have more people learn music in a lovable way and make it an integral part of their lives. In today's digital age, we're also committed to reducing screen time by encouraging hands-on musical engagement that nurtures creativity and human connection.
At Legato Strings Orchestra, we welcome players of all backgrounds and skill levels. Whether you're picking up a violin, viola, cello, or double bass for the first time, our doors are open for you to join our orchestral rehearsals and embark on your musical journey.

Become part of our musical family! Legato Strings Orchestra welcomes string players of all ages and skill levels. Whether you're a complete beginner or looking to advance your skills, we have a place for you in our ensemble.
Our inclusive environment celebrates diversity, and we particularly welcome players who want to explore both Western classical traditions and music from around the world. From rock and jazz to country and Christmas melodies, we embrace all genres. We also have a vibrant community of musicians who enjoy Asian music, including Indian (Tamil, Malayalam, Hindi), Chinese, Japanese, and Korean repertoire.
Our music lessons run from September through June, providing a full academic year of growth and learning. We offer different age groups at both our Scarborough and Ajax locations, ensuring that every member finds their perfect musical home.
If you have experience with orchestral string instruments and are looking for a welcoming community to share your passion for music, we invite you to join our orchestral rehearsals. Together, we'll create beautiful music and lasting friendships.

November 29, 2024 - Next Gen Holiday Concert
Join us for a special collaborative performance where Legato Strings Orchestra performs together with Music4Life Orchestra. This exciting partnership showcases the talents of young musicians and celebrates the holiday season with beautiful string music.
December 19, 2025 - Christmas Concert and Recital
Location: St. Francis Centre, Ajax Time: Friday evening Our annual Christmas celebration returns! Our young players will showcase their talents and perform great music for audiences of all ages. This festive concert features holiday favorites and demonstrates the incredible progress our students have made throughout the year. Come celebrate the season with us and witness the magic of live orchestral music performed by our dedicated students.
April 2026 - Informal Breakfast Concert
Join us for a delightful morning of music and community building! This special breakfast concert creates a relaxed atmosphere where families can meet each other, enjoy beautiful performances by our students, and strengthen the bonds that make our orchestra family so special. We believe in fostering connections beyond the music stand, and this informal gathering celebrates the relationships that flourish within our musical community.
